Pregnancy and Violence

Acts of family violence reduce women’s economic security, their access to educational opportunities, and their ability to provide safety to their children.

Some important things to remember:

violence is never okay; your safety and your children’s safety are the most important issues

violence against women is a crime

you do not cause the abuse

your abusive partner is 100% responsible for his/her actions

you are not responsible for your partner’s behaviour; you cannot change your partner’s behaviour

abuse is not a loss of control, it is a means of control
